Whistler
is a large Ski Resort and township
The drive to Whistler along Howe
Sound is nothing short of spectacular and when you arrive there's plenty
to do. Apart from the fantastic skiing, there are three large shopping
centres, a wonderful sports centre, skating rink, swimming pool, spa,
sauna, steam room, squash courts and gymnasium, plus heliskiing, skidoo
tours and just about any other winter activity. It's only 1½ hours from
Vancouver, and Squamish and Pemberton are not far away. The night life
is great too.
Make
the most of your holiday
Transport
and lift tickets can be purchased through Australian travel agents prior
to leaving.
- VISA
is accepted everywhere. ATM's allow you to withdraw up to $800 per day
and purchases may be made on them in most businesses and on the mountain.
- An
Australian 'Telecard' makes calls home convenient.
- Slippers
are great around the apartment. The Canadian custom is to leave all
shoes at the front door.
- We'll
be visiting the Meadow Park Sports Centre so bring bathers, squash shoes,
etc. for whatever you would like to do whilst there. Ice skates are
available if you wish.
- It
can be cold in Whistler. Make sure you bring your 'long johns' and warm
hat and gloves. These are also readily available in town.
- Obtain
travel insurance that includes recreational skiing.
- Dinner
is catered for 6 evenings per week leaving an evening to dine in town.
- Please
provide your own alcoholic/soft drinks.
- The
apartment is non-smoking.
- There
are a few cheap deals on ski gear, but generally you'll pay around the
same as in Australia. However it will be the latest.
- Lunch is available on the mountain
